Vittoria Air-Liner Protect DownHill 2.4"-2.6"
Extreme protection on the DH tracks
The Air-Liner Protect Downhill tyre insert originates from the most demanding downhill race trails of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series.
Constructed from high-density polymer foam ensuring long-lasting product life, it allows riders to confidently tackle even the most demanding trails and terrains. It provides a robust barrier between the rim and the tire, offering unprecedented protection against punctures, sidewall slashes, and pinch flats.
The Air-Liner Protect Downhill version boasts a higher density foam compared to the enduro version, meticulously engineered to withstand the relentless forces encountered during high-speed descents. Air-Liner Protect Downhill come as a complete loop, eliminating the need for tedious cutting and zipping.
No longer will you fear the wrath of jagged rocks or treacherous roots, for Air-Liner Protect Downhill has your back.
Air-Liner Protect Downhill is made of a proprietary foam specifically designed for donwhill applications. The material is compatible with any type of liquid sealant. It comes in 2 wheel sizes (27.5” and 29”), each compatible with tire size 2.4" to 2.6". It must be used with tubeless set-ups only (not compatible with the use of inner tubes) and with multiway tubeless valves only - a valve is provided in the pack.
Air-Liner Protect fits rims with internal width 28mm to 35mm.
Impact Protection
- Air-Liner Protect saves the rims from heavy impacts, while reducing the risk of snake bites.
- The "T" shape creates a barrier in between the rim edges and the inner side of the tyre.
High Speed
- Air-Liner Protect has no negative impact on the tyre rolling speed.
- Under air pressure, the insert collapses on the rim creating a seal able to withstand even the strongest impacts.
Lateral Stability
- Air-Liner Protect supports the tyre side under the load of cornering.
- You can approach turns at full speed: no risk for your tyres to coming off the rim.
- Air-Liner Protect also increases the protection of the tyre sidewalls from cuts and punctures.
Air Volume
- Thanks to its "T" shape, Air-Liner Protect allows for more air volume inside your tyre than many other inserts.
- This means you can lower the air pressure and gain additional grip without any risk of unbeading your tire or damaging your rim.
Run Flat
- In the event of catastophic tyre damage and air loss, AirLiner Protect gives run flat support up to 50km.
Punctures are a fact of life, but the Air-Liner MTB keeps a mid-run flat from imposing an insurmountable time penalty, an auto-DNF, or a hike-a-bike to the transition. The Air-Liner’s high-density structure keeps your tire rideable for up to an hour after a flat – enough time to clear a stage or hustle back to the trailhead. Your ambitions don’t have to deflate just because your tire did.
The Air-Liner isn’t just an emergency flat solution – it also helps prevent punctures by preventing rim strikes. As it compresses, the polymer material ramps-up like a shock. Trail chatter is muted, root lattices are smoothed, and the big hits and square edges of rock gardens are cushioned. The Air-Liner’s cross-section keeps the tire’s contact surface fluid and flexible, but it also increases lateral stability by buttressing the sidewalls.
A high-density polymer structure gives the Air-Liner MTB all the qualities of a good shock: it mutes chatter and ramps up under big impacts, increasing ride comfort and preventing rim strikes. It also acts as a run-flat for up to an hour if you do puncture, and it has an install life of 2,000 hours. The insert’s cross section is compatible with all tubeless valves, keeps the tread lively, and reinforces lateral stability. The Air-Liner is compatible with all tubeless and tubeless-ready mountain bike tires and ammonia-free sealant.
